We lost our dear dog Astro. It was a sudden loss that happened yesterday. He was going to turn 10 years old in November. I’m sitting “in the sadness” of our loss. It’s Day #1 without him. It’s also my birthday. I smelled his blanket. I see his empty bed. I think he’s lying in front of the vent in our daughter’s room to feel the heat on his skin. Only, he’s not there. The tears come in waves. I let them flow. It’s been a hard day.

Florence, I’m so deeply sorry for the loss of Astro. 🐾 Those first days are incredibly tender, the empty spaces, familiar scents, and little routines can make their absence feel so real.

I’m glad you’re allowing yourself to feel the sadness instead of pushing it away. Those tears are love with nowhere else to go. Sending you so much gentleness as you remember Astro. 🌈

My dog is still here but the grief is already overwhelming. I dread his passing.

I hear you. That kind of anticipatory grief can feel so heavy because you’re already imagining a life without someone who is still right beside you.

Try to gently bring yourself back to the moments you still have, the walks, the little routines, the quiet companionship. Your love for him is so clear, and right now he gets to feel that love every day. 🤍

This coming Thursday will be 3 weeks ago that I lots my beagle boy Humphrey,he was 16 years old, I got him as a puppy. He was the most gentle soul I ever met.

I really struggle with this. My whole world revolved around him. I have cried so much, slept so little so much so that I made myself ill. Now my body is so weak I can't cry anymore.

I knew he was going eventually, he was getting slower and weaker over the years but what I didn't reckon with is the immense sadness after he died, it's crippling. I had 4 beagles throughout the years so always he'd the others to take care of when one passed.

This is something new to me.
